I Find This Statistic Scary

Asia Set to Lead the World in Tourism Growth

This may sound crazy for someone who arranges special interest tours to Asia, but I find this statistic scary. So do people committed to Asian environmental issues. And thankfully, so do an increasing number of organizations and businesses.

No one wants to destroy the things we love. But a lot of folks are in deep denial.

When we began traveling in Southeast Asia in the early 90’s, we pretty much had the place to ourselves. There weren’t enough of us to to leave large footprints. It didn’t occur to us at the time that it would ever change very much.

Now those foot prints are significant. Laos, once a place that was a step back in time, has now been heralded by the NYTimes Travel section as one of the hottest destinations on the planet.

To their credit, Laos is making an effort to proactively manage what for them is a flood of visitors. They say they have learned from the lessons of countriies with a longer history as popular travel destinations.

There are tangible steps that will decrease your travel footprint. We are here to be your coach and your cheerleader!
