So what's up with Seattle where there's so enough objection to a proposed charge for plastic bags that it's up for a vote? Don't petition signers realize these little babies are creating mega size environmental degradation with billions of tons of discarded bags choking the air and water quality?
It seems some people care more about objecting to any perceived tampering with their "rights" than they do about reversing global warming. And in reality, who is benefiting here? Could it be the chemical companies with powerful lobbyists? Ya think? This one leaves me perplexed and angry. It's such a simple switch in lifestyle!
In our house, we keep cloth bags in the trunk of the car, relieve the overworked checker by making quick work of packing and away we go. Friends who cycle have nylon bags that fold up to the size of a dollar bill.
So kudos to Bangladesh and a growing list of other countries and cities. And shame on my home town. In a line made famous by Tom Hanks --"stupid is as stupid does".
