Get Informed Before You Invest in Carbon Credits

Credibility is a major concern for Sustainable Travel International. We want your commitment to the environment to be one that can make a difference.

Here’s some consumer head’s up information to make more informed decisions.

International offset projects should meet Clean Development Mechanism (CDM) criteria under the Kyoto Protocol. Currently, the most respected certifiers include Green-e (www.green-e.org) for U.S.-based renewable energy certificates, and the CDM Gold Standard (www.cdmgoldstandard.org) and the Voluntary Carbon Standard (www.v-c-s.org) for international offset projects.

And the equations used in carbon calculators should be based on international standards like those offered by the World Resources Institute.
