Singapore is Culinary Hotspot

Sustainable Never Tasted So Good

Our friends at International Culinary Tourism Association have identified Singapore is one of the top ten sustainable culinary hotspots on the planet.

Food centers, also known as "hawker centers," are found in every single one of Singapore's residential neighborhoods, and are often connected to a "wet market" selling fresh produce. At last count, ICTA found more than 120 hawker centers for a mouth-watering total of 16,000 delectable food stalls!

So what makes hawker food sustainable? Almost all of it comes from Malaysia, distance wise the equivalent of a neighboring state in the US.

In addition, Singaporeans can eat well and with amazing variety in their own neighborhoods. And if they do choose another part of the island for their "makan", a majority take public transport to get there.
