We're not putting down five star accommodations, just suggesting a balance of getting close to people and nature.
We guarantee you will definitely feel psychologically renewed and empowered if you get off the tourist track.
It's called Community Based Tourism. Imagine floating down the Mekong in a beautifully resorted wooden boat, docking in Northern Laos where you are greeted by local people and welcomed to their village -- no crowds, no hype, no linen table cloths -- just a precious opportunity to open up your eyes and your heart.
The one caveat is to make very conscious choice about those back to the people experiences. There are ethical and unethical travel agents and tour operators. We are strongly on the ethical side and never arrange village visits except through qualified, committed organizations.
