As we have traveled Southeast Asia over the last 15 years, we have found incredible examples
of programs rooted in cultural sensitivity and fueled by the passion to preserve the
environments that support people's way of life.
One of the groups we support is Village Focus. An NGO with initiatives in Laos,
Cambodia and India, Village Focus makes a long term investment in local staff and village
leaders, who then take responsibility for designing and implementing projects for social change
in their villages.
Recently, Explore Asia hosted Village Focus at a reception in Seattle. One of the founders,
Dr. Boualaphet Chounthavong, a nominee for the Nobel Peace Prize. inspired everyone in the
