In the meantime, take some time to review this itinerary for your future travels.

From Bangkok we fly to Rangoon and depart the next day for the southern Shan
State.
Here we will enjoy a special candle-lit balloon festival in Taunggi and several days on
magnificent Inle Lake. The setting is breathtaking. The fishing and the hydroponic gardening
are amazing. We will stay in Nyaungshwe at the Teakwood Lodge run by friends.
Then we travel by air to the former capitals of Bagan and Mandalay, with time at each on
the Ayeyarwady (Irrawady) River. We visit the Golden Mountain on our return to Rangoon.
Some will want to visit the inspiring Shwedagon Pagoda a second time before leaving this
exceptional country.
For a taste of traveling on the Irrawady, check out the May 2006 issue of National
Geographic.
